localguard.app is a preparedness tool that runs on your own phone. There is no fee, no account and no trial. This page explains what it costs to keep running, and the two ways that upkeep could be paid for.
localguard.app does not watch anything for you today. There is no server listening for your signals and no monitoring service running. If one is ever built, this page will say exactly what it does before anyone is asked to pay for it.
Always free
- SOS light and siren
- Family directory and medical notes
- Rendezvous plan
- Preparedness guides
- Encrypted backup and restore
- Practice drills
What it costs to run
- Hosting the app so it can be downloaded
- The domain name
- Keeping the guides and safety wording up to date
- My time testing each release on real phones
These are the real costs. Nothing here is a subscription you are missing out on.
Two ways to help
Optional contribution
OptionalGive once or monthly, any amount from £1 to £200. Nothing is locked behind it, and not giving changes nothing about how the app works.
Card details go straight to Stripe and never reach this app. Nothing is unlocked by contributing, and the light and siren work the same whether you give or not. Payments are live: your card is charged the amount shown.
Advertising
Not enabledAds are not running. They would only ever appear on public pages like this one, and only once an advertising provider is approved. Small sites often earn very little, so this is a possible contribution to hosting costs, not a guarantee of them.
Never in the SOS screen, the signal tools, or next to your family details. Your family data stays on your phone and is never shown to an advertiser.
