It locks the app and encrypts your directory, meeting places and status log on this phone, so the plan cannot be read without it.

Write it down somewhere off this phone. The PIN is the only key: with no account and no network, a forgotten PIN means the saved plan cannot be recovered. Keep an encrypted backup as a second copy.

The PIN only guards what is already stored on this phone. Nothing is sent anywhere.
