About localguard.app
localguard.app is an emergency preparedness app built to keep working when the internet and the mobile network do not. Everything it does runs on the phone in your hand: the family directory, the meeting plan, the readiness checklists and the signalling tools are stored on the device itself, so there is no account to sign in to, no server to reach and nothing to download when a crisis starts.
It exists for the moment a cyber-attack, a power cut or a storm knocks out the services people normally rely on to find each other. Instead of messaging, it turns the phone into something that can be seen and heard at close range: a screen that flashes a message in Morse code, a siren that carries through a street, a camera that reads another phone's flashes back into words, and a decoding tool for tapping a message out on a wall or a pipe.
It is written for households rather than organisations. Families who want a plan before they need one, people caring for older relatives, hikers and campers heading beyond coverage, and anyone who has watched a network go down and realised they had no fallback. If you have ever agreed to “meet by the church if the phones stop working”, this app is the piece of paper that agreement usually lives on.
localguard.app is an independent project, built and maintained by the developer who publishes it here rather than by an agency or a company. It is not affiliated with any emergency service, it runs no advertising, and it does not sell or share what you store in it. Hosting is paid for by optional, voluntary contributions, and the app is complete whether or not anyone gives.
It is a tool, not a monitoring service. Nothing watches for your signal, and no one is dispatched when you use it. Signals travel as far as light and sound carry, which is why the app pairs its tools with a family plan: the plan is what tells your people where to look.
Works with no signal, no account and no connection to this website once the app is open.
Your family details stay on your device, protected by an optional PIN.
